The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT, WB) heralds a distinctive name as an outstanding academic and research institution in West Bengal. Over the past 20 years of its existence, it has truly established itself as the leading flagship of higher education. The university has made powerful forays into new emerging areas of engineering and technology, science and management, socio-cultural and heritage initiatives, eco-environment, travel tourism and corporate social responsibility – which is truly a phenomenal leap forward and a cut above anyone else’s technical universities in India and abroad.
As the state’s technology university, it offers over 200 colleges across the state offering a wide range of UG / PG programs in classical, neoclassical and contemporary branches of engineering and technology, pharmacy, architecture, management, applied sciences in conjunction with non-AICTE -Programs of B.Sc., BBA and BCA courses in leading specialist areas. Since 2018, the university has started various professional courses in some affiliated universities in accordance with the guidelines of the AICTE and the UGC

With the active patronage and support of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal, the university has established its sprawling new academic campus on nearly 40 hectares in Haringhata, Nadia – which has earned the rarest award for being a “green, clean and environmentally friendly campus”. From here, all academic and administrative machines are managed centrally and coordinated for effective implementation. The university is ambitiously expanding its in-house academic portfolio by introducing a variety of new courses of study focusing on professional and professional levels, establishing new laboratories in advanced and emerging disciplines, establishing new schools, centers and departments, starting training and counseling, initiating Off-campus and satellite campus programs to increase student enrollment as much as possible.
MAKAUT attaches great importance to the introduction of digital technologies and the use of available digital / online resources by faculty members and students. The use of learning management systems, flipped learning and mobile learning are the tools in face-to-face teaching. The university has created a repository for its affiliated universities with online courses from various online specialist platforms. The courses are covered with credits and credits for prospective students. The university introduced Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) before other universities.
