Brooklyn Beckham made his TV cooking debut Wednesday when he appeared on the Today Show, and to say there was a mixed reaction would be to say the least.
The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham He recently tried his hand at cooking on social media, which of course meant he was invited to the US broadcast to make what is known as an “English breakfast sandwich.”
Introduced as “a social media sensation and our friend,” Brooklyn told hosts Carson Daly and Hoda Kotb, “I’ve always loved food. And when the quarantine came, of course, I only really started to really deal with it. My fiancée started filming me and I started posting it and it’s just something I just love to do. “
After a brief greeting to the fiancée Nicola Peltz and a few chats about how his father loves to cook “anything … risotto, pasta, steak,” Brooklyn started and conjured up bacon, eggs and sausages.
It wasn’t long for the clip of Brooklyn in the kitchen making the rounds online, and many were alarmed by some of the 22-year-old’s culinary choices.
Meanwhile, others asked what exactly the model and star photographer’s references were to educate America in sandwich-making:
Piers Morgan later caught wind of the clip and called it “worst, unspeakably pointless segment in the history of morning television ”(although in Brooklyn’s defense he at least made it to the end without leaving the set).
The segment garnered approval from Brooklyn’s famous parents, with Victoria commenting, “Well done Brooklyn, we love you.”
David agreed, “Well done, Bust … so good.”
