Beat Burnout: Use Exercise and Other Routines to Help You Overcome Your Daily Stress | news

ATLANTA (CBS46) – At EFFECT Fitness in Southwest Atlanta, you’re ready to give it your all!

“I really need this every day to release all this tension from everyday life and really just move on,” said Don Yarborough, who says that training is the best way for him to fight burnout.

Yarborough is like thousands of other Atlanteans who work from home.

Malissa Clark, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Georgia, recently published a work-a-holism study.

“Just because we’re available for a meeting on Zoom doesn’t mean it’s a good thing,” said Clark.

Clark says burnout is an important factor when we are constantly attached to work and put a strain on our minds and bodies.

“Because we think about work all the time, because we bring it home, we don’t separate physically and mentally from work and that doesn’t give us time to rebuild the resources we just spent that day,” said Clark.

Our buying behavior is also influenced by burnout. Online shopping is often an easy way to get away from the stress.

“If you want something, just put it in your cart and leave it and if you still want it tomorrow or in whatever time frame,” said Alex Reffett, Atlanta-based financial planner with East Paces Group.

He says although the pandemic makes the future seem uncertain, focus your finances on the future.

“Put things on autopilot to save, to put things in the right places, to structure your long-term goals so that you don’t have to think about them every day, they just happen automatically.”

Another great routine? Make sure you get up and move around.

“We want to create an environment where people just come here and go to work, literally come here, clear your mind for the next 35, 40 minutes, we have you,” said Keundric “Dooley” Loucious of EFFECT Fitness.
