Montage Los Cabos is already a resort that specializes in helping guests discover the best experiences, including restaurants and must-see attractions in Los Cabos. And this winter, the hotel will also expose guests to one of Mexico’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders.
Every November, monarch butterflies flap their magnificent orange, black, and white wings to fly south from Canada and the US to Mexico for the winter. The swarm, which consists of millions of these graceful creatures, usually comes to the forest between the Mexican states of Michoacán and Estado de Mexico. The butterflies typically stay in place for a few months, turning the treetops of the Michoacán Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve into an orange blaze before taking off again in spring. It’s a truly divine sight and one that Montage guests will be helping this winter.
In January, the hotel announced that it was adding a number of new experiences to its already stellar list, including the Monarch Butterfly experience.
In partnership with Compass Sports, the hotel will take interested guests by private jet from Cabo to the forested mountains west of Mexico City to see the unparalleled natural spectacle at Piedra Herrada Park. As part of the experience, a dedicated guide will escort guests around the park to explain everything they could ever want to know about migration. After immersing themselves in the scene, guests set out for a delicious lunch in the Valle de Bravo and stroll the city’s beautiful colonial streets.
The experience is available until March 2022 (contact the hotel directly to arrange appointments). It includes private flight, luxury ground transportation, dedicated tour guide, park entrance fees, drinks, light refreshments and lunch for up to seven guests. The best part? When you’re done, return to Montage Los Cabos to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf.
Interested travelers can book the experience starting at $35,000 by contacting the concierge at [email protected] More experiences and booking options can be found here on the hotel’s website.
